To say the Orlando Phantoms came out flat would be a understatement. Early in the 1st quarter sure handed Velton Brown fumbled a punt that was returned for a touchdown by Antonio Miles to put up the Tarheels 8-0 . On a positive offensive drive early in the 2nd quarter in the Redzone it looked like the Phantoms would tie up the game. Instead Phantoms QB Torrance Brown through a pass that was intercepted in the endzone by Tarheels Free Safety Avery Harris who returned it for a 100 yard touchdown. With 8 minutes left in the 2nd quarter the Phantoms were down 14-0 to a fired up Space Coast Tarheels football team that was smelling a upset.
Just when things looked rough for the Phantoms the Special Teams Unit stepped up big as Defensive End Jeremy Spencer knifed through the Tarheel offensive line and blocked the punt which rolled into the endzone and recovered by defensive tackle Dustin Gilliard for the touchdown. With the Phantoms finally on the scoreboard the offense went to work and with :53 seconds left in the first half QB Torrance Brown connected with WR Davidson Roger for a 26 yard touchdown pass to tie the score 14-14.
The second half was all Orlando Phantoms as the defense shut the Tarheels offense down on the ground or through the air. Torrance Brown throw 2 more touchdown passes, one to WR Velton Brown for 35 yards and another one to Davidson Roger for 62 yards. Running Back Chad Davis broke tackles all the way to a 10 yard touchdown, and QB Torrance Brown also rushed for a 1 yard touchdown to cap of the win 41-22.
The Phantoms will have to play mistake free football as they face a undefeated Ocala Panther football team February 3rd at Lake Brantley High School in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Come support your Orlando Phantoms Saturday night, kick off will be 7:00pm.
